What is a Sheet Metal Apprenticeship?
A Sheet Metal Apprentice is a person who spends 4 to 5 years working in the Sheet Metal industry and at the same time attending training to become a Journeyman Sheet Metal worker. During this time the Apprentice receives excellent wages and benefits while at the same time learning a career that will support them and their families for the rest of their lives.
How do I know if this is the right trade for me?
If you are the type of person who enjoys a challenge, likes to work with their hands, likes to see a project completed, and wants a life long career than you should take a serious look at this industry.
How much money does a Sheet Metal Apprentice make?
Below is a chart of the expected wages of an Apprentice. These calculations do not include overtime or double time wages. An apprentice is required 800-1000 on the job work hours and to complete their related training with a 70% or better to advance thru each term.

TERM 2: 57% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $16.90 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $13,520
2ND YEAR
TERM 3: 60% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $17.79 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $14,232
TERM 4: 62% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $18.38 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $14,704
3RD YEAR
TERM 5: 65% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $19.27 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $15,416
TERM 6: 70% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $20.76 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $16,608
4TH YEAR
TERM 7: 75% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $22.24 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $17,792
TERM 8: 80% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $23.72 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $18,976
5TH YEAR
TERM 9: 83% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $24.61 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $19,688
TERM 10: 86% OF JOURNEYMAN SCALE $25.50 X 6 MONTHS & 800 HOURS = $20,400
